SunStateFootball Top 100: 56-60

The state of Florida is expected to have over 330 players sign D-1 scholarships on signing day. SunStateFootball provides a Pre-Spring Top 100 to highlight SOME of the top players in the state. Here is a look at players 56-60.

56. Tyler Cameron

Area Rank: Palm Beach(5)

School: Jupiter

Ht/Wt: 6'3, 210

Position: Quarterback

Offers: BC, Illinois, Louisville, Rutgers, USF

Cameron has great size and athleticism at the QB position. He has been an extremely effective dual threat QB and still has plenty of upside remaining. He is an excellent fit in a spread based offense where he can use his feet to make plays. Cameron is capable of playing another position and that helps his stock here. There were questions about Trey Burton at the QB spot, those turned out to be legit as he is playing everywhere except QB at this time(due to a change in offensive philosophy with Weis), but he is a play-maker and had a great freshmen year at UF. Cameron has similar tools.

Hamilton projects to OG
Geoff Vogt,

57. James Hamilton

Area Rank: CentFla(10)

School: Orlando Olympia

Ht/Wt: 6'3, 340

Position: Offensive Guard

Offers: Clemson, Illinois, Michigan State, USF, Syracuse, Texas AM

Massive guard who despite being between 330 and 340 pounds carries that weight well. Mauler type that will play inside at next level. Really moves well for a big player. He possesses the mean streak and competitiveness that college line coaches covet. Has started collecting offers over the last several months and that will likely continue through Spring. He is considered open on the trail at this time.

58. Devonte Mathis

Area Rank: Broward(7)

School: Miramar

Ht/Wt: 6'2, 210

Position: Wide Receiver

Offers: FSU, USF, WVU

Mathis has played QB and WR in high school and projects to WR at the next level. He is the third Miramar player in the top 58 showing the depth of talent for the Patriot's(state title 2009). As a WR he is very raw, but has the size, speed, and upside to be a difference maker down the road. Has good body control for a big athlete and makes plays. Miramar is known for producing D-1 WRs and Mathis is expected to have a big senior year.

59. JoJo Brooks

Area Rank: Jax(4)

School: Nease

Ht/Wt: 6'0, 185

Position: Safety

Offers: Clemson, South Carolina, USF, WVU, VT

Brooks played a lot of QB as a junior, but projects to the defensive side of the ball in college, likely Safety. He shows a lot of offensive ability with quickness and speed, those tools along with solid size make him an excellent prospect. Could play CB in right scheme. Seems to like Miami a lot, but has not gotten that offer yet, VT is in the lead of the schools that have offered.

60. Gary Simon

Area Rank: Tampa(8)

School: St Pete Gibbs

Ht/Wt: 6'1, 185

Position: Cornerback

Offers: USF, Iowa State

Play-maker on both sides of the ball(WR/CB), he is very intriguing as a big corner. Terrific athleticism and hips. Possesses a lot of upside down the road. Just starting to fill out his frame and should carry 200+ down the road. Holds just two offers, we would look for that to change in the coming months.
