Leon Jones returns from Knoxville

Leon Jones, linebacker from Athens-East Limestone, Ala., took an unofficial visit this past weekend to the University of Tennessee. Jones talked about the trip and his interest in the Volunteers.

"The visit was good," Leon Jones said. "I learned all the lyrics to Rocky Top. The spring game was pretty good. They have some young guys. The SEC will be real competitve this year.

"They are pretty much set. They are ready. They didn't seem like they had a lot of depth at linebacker, but the ones they had looked pretty good."

"That was my first visit up there. It was real nice up there. They have the nicest facilities. They were top of the line. I like all the fans. They had a bunch of fans. It's real good tradition.

"I talked to my recruiting coach [Lance Thompson]. The coaches were in the locker room with the signees. He was talking to me about spring evaluations. They are going to come see me this spring."

Jones has a high interest in the SEC program, and enjoys singing the school fight song.

"I like the colors," said Jones. "I like orange and white. I like the tradition. Tennessee football goes way back. I like Derek Dooley and the coaches. I like the program and all the fans. They believe in the program every year. They believe in the players. I like the feel of everything. It's a real old-timey feel. I like singing Rocky Top."
