Visit to Montlake goes well for Solis

A 2012 prospect who has seen his stock start to rise this spring is Westlake (Ca.) DT Justin Solis and recently he took in one of Washington's spring practices. caught up with him and he said his visit to Seattle went well and he has hopes that an offer could be coming in the near future...

"It was a really good trip up there," Solis told "I spent time with the coaches and sat through a meeting and then I went out and watched practice.

"Their practices are intense. I really liked it a lot and the coaches are all about teaching and showing their players how to get better."

Solis said he didn't spend a lot of time with head coach Steve Sarkisian, but did speak with defensive coordinator Nick Holt.

"He and I talked for a while actually," Solis said. "He said he likes what he sees from me on my film and that he liked my size and quickness.

"He said he'll be down this next month (May) to see my coaches and that I am a player they really like a lot."

Solis said that Holt and defensive line coach Johnny Nansen are recruiting him as a three-technique, pass-rushing defensive tackle and that is the spot he prefers.

"I love to rush the quarterback and to be aggressive," Solis said.

That attitude allowed Solis to post 99 tackles and nine sacks as a junior last fall and he said he hopes to have an even better season this fall.

"I just want to help my team win," Solis said. "I want to get better, get stronger and just make plays when I have the chance."

At this point, Solis has offers from UCLA and Colorado and is getting heavy interest from Washington and the rest of the Pac 12 as well as some Mountain West, WAC and Big 12 programs.

"I'd like to take my visits and make my decision by the middle of my season, but we'll see what happens," Solis said. "Right now I'm not really focused on that. I am finding out more about the schools interested in me and the ones I'm interested in and I'll just go from there."

We will have more from Solis in the near future as he continues to work his way through the recruiting process.
