Alabama MVP: Elite 1on1s

Plenty of talent was on the Prattville practice fields this past Saturday competing at the Alabama MVP Camp. Find out who heard their names called for the Elite 1on1 session here.

Steven Bench - Bainbridge (GA) - 2012
Austin Grammer - American Heritage (AL) - 2012
Austin Henrick - Cleveland (TN) - 2014
Carson Roberts - Walker (AL) - 2012
Jalen Whitlow - Prattville (AL) - 2012

Best of the Best: Bench was named top quarterback and he had a very good day. He could have put a little better spin on the ball, but that is getting a little picky. He was extremely accurate, he threw the ball with the best velocity, and he got rid of the ball quickly.

Running Backs

Andre Allen - Arnold (FL) - 2012
Brandon Burks - Daleville (AL) - 2012
Alvin Kamara - Norcross (GA) - 2013
George Rowe - Prattville (AL) - 2012
Traveon Samuel - Central (AL) - 2015

Best of the Best: It came down to a battle between Rowe and Allen. In the end, Allen was named top running back. He showed great hands, good quickness, and he was tough to get a hand on throughout the event.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

Anthony Autry - Norcross (GA) - 2012
Sam Coleman - Edgewood Academy (AL) - 2012
Montez Haynes - Thompson (AL) - 2014
Dontavious Heard - Pebblebrook (GA) - 2012
Ryan Jenkins - Milton (GA) - 2013
Stacey Otis - Arnold (FL) - 2012
Earnest Robinson - Pinson Valley (AL) - 2013
J.T. Tolbert - Norcross (GA) - 2012

Best of the Best: On the final play, Heard took home the honor of being the best at this position. He and Autry battled throughout the day for that top spot, but the great grab Heard made over a defender in his final rep won him the award.

Offensive Linemen

Haston Coates - Pleasant Grove (AL) - 2012
Andy Dodd - Pepperell (GA) - 2013
Austin Golson - Prattville (AL) - 2013
Cory Helms - Milton (GA) - 2013
Nick Johnson - Dadeville (AL) - 2012
Nathan Losey - Austin (AL) - 2012
Clay Machen - Auburn (AL) 2012
Nick Maxey - Briarwood Christian (AL) - 2012
Hunter Riddlesperger - Mortimer Jordan (AL) - 2012

Best of the Best: Coates created a buzz early on and then kept up a great performance until his final rep in the Elite 1on1s. He was very impressive through the drills and 1on1 competition.

Defensive Linemen

Dakota Ball - Pepperell (GA) - 2012
Jeremiah Harris - Hoover (AL) - 2012
Jared Holloway - St. Paul's Episcopal (AL) - 2013
Joey Mock - Chelsea (AL) - 2012
Justin Shanks - Prattville (AL) - 2012
Maurice Swain - Troup County (GA) - 2012

Best of the Best: Shanks came in as the highest rated prospect and he did not disappoint. He is very strong at the point of attack, he is explosive off the ball, and he just collapses the pocket on a regular basis.

Brett Cavender - Fairview (TN) - 2012
Mario Mathis - Thomasville (GA) - 2013
Tre Williams - St. Paul's Episcopal (AL) - 2014

Best of the Best: Cavender was solid all day at this event. He was smooth through the drills, he was the best in coverage out of the linebackers, and he moved well laterally.

Defensive Backs

Trey Davis - Hillcrest (AL) - 2012
Cameron Flores - Lassiter (GA) - 2012
Jonathan Jones - Carrollton (GA) - 2012
Nick Martin - Dothan (AL) - 2012
Kamryn Melton - Dothan (AL) - 2013
Laronji Vason - Prattville (AL) - 2012
Austin Williams - Auburn (AL) - 2013

Best of the Best: Vason was impressive from the start. He showed quick feet and great ball skills during the positional drills and then just locked down all of the wide receivers during the 1on1 session.
