Junior Rank Camp Houston: Recruit Notes

This weekend Scout.com/Texas Preps will take in the action from the Junior Rank Camp in Houston, Texas. For the opening day, we got the chance to talk with a couple of the talented players in attendance. Here is a recruiting brief on some of the big names on hand…

For the first day, there was a good showing, though expect many more as the weekend goes one. In the high school juniors group, one guy who stood out amongst the crowd was Montgomery offensive lineman Braden Meador. As stated, this was the first day and no positional drills were performed, but the Scout.com three star lineman looked good in drills showing solid footwork. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Meador reports offers from Houston and most recently Air Force

Other programs like Missouri, Texas Tech, Stanford and SMU have been showing interest this spring as Meador is expecting more good news to come. Another player expecting some more news is safety Jarrett Irving of Spring Dekaney. Irving played offense for Dekaney and was good for more than 900 yards and nine touchdowns, but looks to be getting recruited as defensive back. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Irving has an offer from Houston with Tulsa and Tulane close to offering as well.

From the state finalist in the Class 4A Division II, La Marque quarterback Emmanuel Williams was on hand. Though he has seen some interest coming from Texas A&M and attended a junior day there, Williams has yet to pull in an offer. He said that he is getting looks from Division I FCS-level programs Northwest Louisiana and Stephen F. Austin.

Out of the talent rich Aldine ISD, Nimitz cornerback Braxton Brown is looking to get some movement going on in his recruitment. This past week Air Force came by to check in at the coaches office and showed interest, but that is all Brown (2 interceptions) is aware of. From Aldine High, safety Jordan Jean-Louis, who recorded 60 tackles and five pass break ups last season, said that he is hearing from Oklahoma State

Always looking a year ahead, be on the look out for the passing duo of Shane McCarley and Austin Bennett, who play quarterback and receiver for Manvel. Both are from the class of 2013 and are starting to get noticed. Bennett is getting some early interest from Baylor along with a couple other programs in the Big 12.
