New SEC Offer for Evans

Deonte Evans committed to Mississippi State a few weeks back, but his decision to be a Bulldog has not slowed down college programs from offering the versatile standout a chance to join their programs. Earlier this week, the Bulldogs' in state rivals from Ole Miss, made an overture towards the south Mississippi star.

"Coach David Lee from Ole Miss told my coach that they were interested in offering me," said Evans. "I spoke with Coach Lee and he said that they liked me as a running back and that I had a scholarship from them."

The Rebels' recent interest just materialized in the past few weeks.

"Ole Miss kind of came out of nowhere," said Deonte. "I hadn't been hearing to much from them and then they offered me."

Evans reports that despite his new option his situation remains unchanged.

"It's always good to get a new offer, but I just don't feel the same way about them that I do Mississippi State," said Deonte. "I gave Coach Mullen my word and I am still 100% committed to Mississippi State.

"I haven't told him yet about Ole Miss offering me, but I am calling him tonight to let him know about everything."

May 19th, Deonte and the rest of the McComb Tigers will close out their spring sessions with a spring game against Callaway, Clinton and Provine.

"I am excited about playing the spring game," said Evans. "We had a great practice today. Coach Jones has really been working us hard, especially the offensive line.

"It's almost like he is coaching them himself.

"We're all working hard to get ready for the season and I feel good about how things are going right now."
