Jake Ganus talks first offer

Jake Ganus, quarterback from Chelsea, Ala., is one of the top athletes in the state. Ganus received big news last week when he learned of his first scholarship offer.

"I received my first offer from Georgia State," said Jake Ganus. "They called my coach last week to let him know they were going to offer me. They were going to call me later to let me know, but I was too excited, and I called them.

"I spoke to the coach who recruits our area. He told me they had a scholarship for me. I was real excited about it. The cool thing is they offered me as a quarterback. It's great to get that first offer."

Ganus has seen several coaches visit this spring.

"We had 20 schools come by here this spring," he said. "UAB was No. 20, and they came by the school today. They wanted to see me work out at safety. I think a lot of these schools like me. They just want to see me at camp this summer. They want to see what all I can do. Then I think they will offer me."

Ganus was named the MVP at the South Showcase Combine at Oxford High School this spring.
