Long snapping instructor Chris Rubio of Rubio Long Snapping / Chris Sailer Kicking was on hand to guide the snappers through the various sections of the camp. The camp was broken down into Saturday being dedicated to instruction and Sunday focusing on competition. Long Snappers were tested on The Rubio Target, put through a pro shuttle, ran a 40 yard sprint and were filmed for their profile pages. The winner of the competition earned a FREE admission to all Rubio Long Snapping camps for one full year!
The winner of the 9th Annual National Spring Event was Kelly Mason (IL). Kelly, who is headed to be the Long Snapper at Kentucky in the fall, was flat out dominant all weekend. He is a long time Rubio Long Snapping student and has improved immensely in the past couple of years. Kelly came out on Saturday and was snapping bullets that were smooth as can be. Ball is right on target and he is snapping with an extreme amount of confidence. Kelly is going to make Kentucky very happy for the next couple of years.
Here are some of the Long Snappers that stood out:
Brandon Jaffe (AZ) strong Long Snapper with a tight spiral that is very accurate and smooth. Moves very well on his feet.
Joaquin Burgos (CA) has exceptional form and gets the ball back there well. Very solid.
Nathan Gibbs (CA) has improved a ton in the past year and a half. Form is good and he is beginning to use his whole body. Excellent attitude.
Glenn Kolbrenner (TX) continues to do extremely well under pressure and have a very consistent ball to catch. Tons of accuracy and solid form. He is transfer from UCONN that can head somewhere now.
Scott Daly (IL) was outstanding all weekend. This Notre Dame commit proved why he is the youngest Long Snapper ever to be offered a full scholarship. Ball is like a rocket and on target. Beyond ready for college right now. Moves extremely well.
Reid Ferguson (GA) did tremendous all weekend. He has recently been offered full rides from San Diego St, LSU and U of Tennessee and he is well worth it. Great frame, attitude and speed on Reid. Easily could play tonight in college.
Josh Antol (CA) looked extremely solid all weekend and made it to the finals against Kelly Mason. Ball is very fast and he is getting ready for the next level quickly. Watch him.
Kameron Canaday (OR) has an NFL frame right now. Speed is off the charts and he moves well for his size. Little tweaks to his form will make unreachable.
Taybor Pepper (MI) is a very, very long athlete that generates an incredible amount of speed with his terrific form.
Greg Hohenstein (IL) is coming along very nicely. Has a solid frame with great length. Immense amount of potential.
Cory Cheadle (SC) continues to look smooth and consistent. Flexibility is off the charts. Big man. Great personality.
Grant Meersand (CA handles pressure very well. Extremely accurate with exceptional form.
Brandon Greene (CA) built like a horse and is very strong. Moves very well. Great speed at times.
Ryan DiSalvo (CA) great long frame that snaps a very smooth ball. Improving rapidly with a huge upside.
Sodie Orr (CA) improved a ton in the last two years. Becoming very strong and using it the right way.
Cole Mazza (CA) could snap in college right now. He is farther along than any other sophomore I have ever had. Snaps in low .6s at times, very aggressive and a great frame. A college would be ok to offer him right now.
Brendan Turelli (AZ) is an extremely solid lefty Long Snapper that snaps bullets. Very solid frame and smooth. Almost a five star Long Snapper right now.
Mike Lizanich (AZ) is very smooth and accurate. Listens well and learns quickly. Has the ability to snap the ball with good speed.
Austin Orr (IN) is built like a house. Very strong for his age. Ball is smooth and consistent.
