Here are some news and notes on prospects from around the South.
Jordan Jenkins told Scout that he and his family has decided that he will not attend a school farther west than Texas and farther north than Tennessee. He has offers from most schools in the ACC and SEC and he will likely sign with a school in one of those two conferences. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Georgia Tech among others are still in the running for the 6-foot-3, 245 pound defensive end out of Hamilton (GA) Harris County.
Powder Springs (GA) McEachern defensive end Darius English added offers from Auburn and Wake Forest on Wednesday. The 6-foot-6, 210 pound rush end will visit Auburn and South Carolina later this month.
Gainesville, Fla. cornerback Chris Bivins has been a hot prospect of late picking up offers from Arkansas, Kentucky, and Navy recently. He will be at Miami on Sunday for their camp and he is hoping to earn a scholarship offer from the Canes.
A new prospect in the 2013 class is starting to emerge in the state of Georgia. Delando Crooks is a 6-foot-4, 250 pound offensive lineman out of Carver High School in Atlanta and he has already been offered by Marshall, Tennessee, and UAB.
Virginia and UCF offered wide receiver Amba Etta-Tawo on Wednesday. He is a 6-foot-2, 190 pound wide receiver out of Powder Springs (GA) McEachern.
Wake Forest offered Francis Kallon on Thursday. He is a 6-foot-6, 241 pound defensive end out of Lawrenceville (GA) Central Gwinnett that has not played a true down of football yet. He has close to 10 offers now.
Phenix City (AL) Central tight end Jonathan Curry added an offer from the Memphis Tigers on Wednesday.
