Jiles Makes Three

Cedric Jiles entered the year as the top cornerback in his home state of Mississippi. After spending some time considering his options, the Clinton High standout has elected to spend his college career wearing the Maroon and White of Mississippi State.

"I wanted to let you know that I made a verbal commitment to Mississippi State yesterday," said Cedric.

"I called and talked with Coach Knox and Coach Mullen. They were real excited about everything.

"I am going up there next week sometime with my family to meet with all of the coaches."

While the Bulldogs have been a favored option for some time, Jiles reports that the moment to make his commitment came on rather suddenly.

"I had been thinking about it for a while, but I woke up one day and knew Mississippi State was where I needed to be," explained Cedric.

"My mom and dad had been talking about Mississippi State a lot and about how close it is to him and all of that."

The chance to play at a high level in his home state was an opportunity that Jiles could not pass up.

"I like all of the coaches up there and I like the campus," said Cedric. "I am excited about everything going on up there."

Jiles is the third Mississippian to pledge his allegiance to Coach Dan Mullen and his staff for the 2012 signing class.
