DB explains Miami commitment

Vernon Davis won the Defensive Back MVP award at Miami's camp over the weekend, was offered soon after, and committed right away. Read on to see everything he's saying.

"I committed to Miami yesterday. I had a real good connection with all the coaches -- Coach Barrow, Golden, all of them. I saw everything I liked," Vernon Davis said.

Davis, 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds, talked more about the camp.

"I went to the camp. I did my thing, worked hard. They had a few other kids who were committed so I had to go out and show what I could do."

Davis talked about working with UM's coaching staff at the event.

"Coach Williams was real good. We had a good connection. He offered up some pointers and showed what I need to do. He has a good coaching style. Coach Golden is real cool. I like his personality. He's gonna turn the program back around. He's getting the inner city kids like Duke Johnson."

Davis had a few other offers as well.

"Besides Miami, I had offers from West Virginia, Cincinnati, Duke, Boston College, Ball State, FIU, Marshall, Memphis, and Western Michigan. I wanted UM though. I like the direction of the program, the coaches, and everything."

Finally, Davis talked more about some of the players at the camp.

"The best receiver, I thought, was the dude from Georgia who committed. Him and Herb Waters. I liked them both. Carter is real good with his routes. He's gonna be a real good receiver."
