Buckeyes Offer Smith

Ohio State has offered Fort Wayne Bishop Luers linebacker Jaylon Smith. The sophomore discussed the offer and his favorites.

Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' Jaylon Smith landed his fourth offer today from the Ohio State Buckeyes, the school his older brother Rod plays at.

"Yeah, I just called Coach Fickell," Smith said. "He said he looked at my information and wanted to offer. I told him thanks and I was honored."

Smith stands 6'3, 225-lbs, and had 11 sacks as a junior from his outside linebacker spot. He currently holds other offers from Mississippi State, Indiana, and Purdue.

He says he likes the Buckeyes, but his brother being there is not a factor.

"Everybody's trying to say that," he explained, "but I'm just keeping my options open right now. I don't really have a team that's a favorite."

He does have a big goal in mind though, one that involves where he will rank at his position when the 2013 rankings debut next year.

"I want to be number one!"
