Offers Coming Strong Through Texas

Plenty of activity has gone on in the last week or so in regards to extending verbal offers in the Midlands region. Check out this report to see who got offers from what programs.

Chance Allen, Missouri City Elkins
Talk about player who is on fire. The 6-foot-2, 188-pound wide receiver Allen was fresh off a road trip to Alabama in hopes of landing an SEC offer from coach Nick Saban, then comes back into town only to pick up an offer he had been wanting for some time.

"Just left the field with (assistant) coach (Joe) Deforest. He said that Oklahoma State are going to offer Chance," a member of Allen's family told

Minnesota, Louisiana-Lafayette, Oregon State, New Mexico, Iowa State and Tulsa are his other offers.

Aaron Curry, Keller Fossil Ridge
Everyday there are new offers coming to the 6-foot-1, 272-pound Curry. This week it was Louisiana Tech.

"We are waiting to see if Utah and Purdue are going to offer," Aaron Curry Sr. said.

Rashad JacksonVershad Jackson, Missouri City Marshall
Not sure if this is intended to be a packaged deal for the two, but the offers seem to be shaping out that way. Last week the Jackson boys got their first offer in from Washington State. Thursday a new offer had been extended.

"North Texas just offered could you update our profile?" Vershad said.

Yes we can.

Dontonio Jordan, Lake Dallas
Last month, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound wide receiver chose to commit to Stanford over Michigan State, Kansas, Buffalo, Duke and Boston College today. This week, despite his commitment, another program has offered. It was Maryland.

Jack Fields, El Paso Americas
Apparently, word got out on Thursday that Fields was about to be done with the recruiting process. It was Boise State that got the call from Fields letting them know he was going Blue.

But a West Coast program was checking to see if a late offer could help him to reconsider.

This morning I got a call from the coaches at San Diego State saying that they want to offer Jack. I told them they are a little late," Patrick Melton, coach at El Paso Americas said about his 5-foot-10, 200-pound running back. "Jack is going to Boise State, period."

Cody Small, Cy Woods
After a solid camp performance, the 6-foot-4, 235-pound Small picked up his third offer yesterday from Rice. Wyoming and Air Force are his other offers.

Marcus Johnson, Clear Springs
It came down to three. One, he was low on the list (TCU), the other offered him another position (Texas A&M) and the last was eager to accept him (Texas Tech). Wednesday of this week, a Red Raider offer came to Johnson and it did not take him but hours to accept.

"I got the chance to meet coach Tommy Tuberville and it was great. The coaches treated me like I was one of their own and that was all I needed," Johnson said. "I feel really good about my decision to be a part of Texas Tech."

Trevor Stevens, Friendswood
Recently, the 6-foot-4, 242-pound Stevens was offered by Boise State, bringing his total to two along with Iowa State.

Zach Britton, Keller Central
"He received an offer from Northwestern State demons on Monday. And the other schools that have expressed strong interest in him, University of Pittsburgh, Louisiana Monroe and Texas State," said Bobby Britton, father of the offensive lineman Zach.
