Ohio Linebacker In Shock After New Offer

After hitting several camps, this Ohio linebacker looked to add some offers to his growing list. On Thursday, he got an offer that left him in shock.

Lancaster (Ohio) middle linebacker Luke Roberts hit the camp circuit this summer and good things have happened. However, news of his newest offer left the 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker in shock when Ohio State pulled the trigger. So how did it feel when the offer came?

"It was pretty exciting. Being a Central Ohio kid, Ohio State is pretty much what all people around here talk about. So it's pretty neat to be given this opportunity."

Despite all the talk surrounding the Buckeye program, Roberts knows Ohio State is still Ohio State.

"Well obviously they are going through some tough times with all the NCAA stuff. But at the end of the day they are still Ohio State and I feel they are going to be a successful program for years to come."

While Roberts is excited about his new offer, he is also hoping to let things sink in. What is his next step?

"I've got to talk about it with my family. They (Ohio State) just offered and I've not had a lot of time to process it. So I'm going to take some time and talk with my family and consider all of my options.

"Things are kind of up in the air and I've not had a lot of time for things to settle yet. So I'm kind of in shock right now to be honest.

Who else had offered prior to the Buckeyes?

"I have offers from Buffalo, Bowling Green, Kent State, Ohio, Cincinnati, Indiana, Purdue and now Ohio State."

Luke didn't have to look far to know about the Buckeyes new head coach. His high school coach knows all about the Buckeye program from his own son's experience.

"Coach Carpenter has told me Ohio State is a great program as his son Bobby played for them. Bobby loved it at Ohio State and he's good friends with Coach Fickell. I've heard nothing but good things about the Ohio State program from the Carpenters."
