Wildcats offer Ohio linebacker

Not many players have as much momentum as Ohio linebacker Luke Roberts. On Tuesday, that momentum continued with an Arizona offer.

6-foot-2, 225-pound Lancaster (Ohio) linebacker Luke Roberts has seen his recruitment increase dramatically as of late and, on Tuesday, Arizona decided to get involved.

Roberts picked up an offer from the Wildcats and it certainly is not his first offer in the past few weeks.

"Recruiting is going really well," Roberts said. "I have picked up recent offers from Cincinnati, Purdue, Ohio State, and Arizona."

"Right now I have a top three of Purdue, Ohio State, and Arizona, but I would not say any of those are the favorite."

One of the major reasons Arizona is currently in Roberts' top three is due to the fact that there is a family connection.

"My dad went to school at Arizona," Roberts said. "I grew up as a fan of rooting for Arizona's basketball and football teams and have a connection with the school."

Roberts was not surprised by Arizona's offer, as he has had consistent contact with linebacker coach Tim Kish.

"Kish is recruiting me and I have talked to him a couple of times," he said. "We have exchanged emails and after a recent email I called him and he let me know that I had an offer."

As Roberts goes through the recruiting process, he has a good idea of what he will be looking for in a school.

"I am looking for good academics and then also familiarity with the coaches and football program," he said. "I also want a program that has a commitment to winning football games."

Roberts is currently trying to visit a few schools on his list and has plans to visit more in the near future.

"I made it to Purdue this past weekend and then will likely visit Ohio State in a few weeks and possibly Arizona later in summer," he said.

As far as a decision, Roberts has a solid idea of when he would like to see the recruiting process come to an end.

"I am hoping to decide before the end of the summer," he said. "I want to get everything out of the way to focus on my team and the season.

"I feel like it would be hard to focus unless I make my final decision before the season starts."
