Forest City (NC) Chase high school standout defensive tackle Carlos Watkins has been one of the best kept secrets in the class of 2012.

6'4 and 285-pound Carlos Watkins has been one of the best kept secrets in North Carolina for some time but that time is over. Watkins has plenty of options with offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Florida, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina and Wake Forest to name a few.

Watkins is not known throughout most of the recruiting world for the common fan but make no mistake about it college coaches are well aware. Five teams standout right now for Watkins who should attend Friday Night Lights with his family July 22nd. Clemson, Florida, South Carolina, Notre Dame and Tennessee are the teams all fighting it out to land the four star defensive tackle. Alabama and Georgia are trying to sneak in as well and seem to be doing a pretty good job so far. His trip to the University of Florida will make or break his chances of being in the first full class for head coach Will Muschamp. Watkins has a very good relationship with the Florida coaches and they are one of the favorites to land him. Things will become much more clear after his visit for Friday Night Lights.

Speculation runs wild as rumors spread all over the internet regarding the college destination from the Carolina Connection. Jonathan Bullard, Rhaheim Ledbetter, Carlos Watkins and D.J. Humphries. The first and biggest piece to the puzzle will be announced publicly Friday July 15th as Ledbetter will decide between Florida and South Carolina. Most people speculate that Bullard will follow sooner rather than later. Recently both Bullard and Ledbetter spoke for the first time about the possibility of attending different schools and while that might be the case make no mistake about it they want to play together.
