Could this 2013 DB commit soon?

A number of top 2013 prospects have committed in recent days and another one could be on the verge of making his decision. It could be down to Alabama and Georgia.

Tray Matthews is a 6-foot-1, 191 pound safety out of Newnan, Ga. and he has over 10 scholarship offers.

The likes of Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech have offered Matthews, but two currently stand out.

"Georgia leads and Alabama is behind them," Matthews told Scout. "I have been to Georgia a few times and I will be at Alabama the next few days (Tuesday/Wednesday) to check them out."

It will likely be one of those schools for this 2013 hard-hitting safety.

He spent Friday night in Athens at Dawg Night and he spent a lot of time with the coaches. He enjoyed his experience there.

"It was great over at Georgia and it almost felt like home. The coaches including Mark Richt all came up to me and talked to me and that was cool.

"Mark Richt kept asking me about my decision and I told him it would be soon. He invited me up to one of their practices in August so I can get used to the life at UGA.

"Georgia is on the top of my list because I just get chills each time I step foot on their campus. They are recruiting me the hardest too."

With Matthews spending part of Tuesday and Wednesday in Tuscaloosa, that could be all he needs to see to make him decide between the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs.

He said his decision could come this summer or early in the season.

Chad Simmons started out with Scout in 2003 covering top talent in Georgia and other areas in the South. He then moved on to another Recruiting Service from 2004-2008 before returning to Scout the first of 2009 to become Southeast Recruiting Manager.
