Covering Jameis Winston

There's a lot of things to like about Jameis Winston. He is great in 7-on-7 camp settings or Elite 11, but you appreciate him a lot more when you see him on Friday nights. His leadership shines under the lights.

Jameis Winston has the competitive drive to never give up, always works to become a better player and has the will to win. Winston was very instrumental in Hueytown's great season last year and took them to the third round of the state playoffs before losing to eventual Class 5A state champion, Spanish Fort.

At first glance Winston appears as a superb athlete who happens to play quarterback because he's the best player on the team. He is a great athlete and obviously a fantastic quarterback. He proved his worth at the Elite 11 where he took home MVP honors for his performance.

Winston has really good footwork, a strong arm and great vision. He knows exactly the location of his receivers on the field and does a great job of reading defenses. He doesn't like to use his legs, but can escape the pocket when it collapses for a big gain. He has a lot of speed, but prefers throwing to a wide receiver rather than running.

Florida State landed a winner in Jameis Winston. The Seminoles have their quarterback of the future if he sticks with football. A player who can lead them to ACC titles and even a national title.
