Porchia to Pitt

If one were to guess which positions were areas of concern for the new Pittsburgh staff when they took over linebacker would be at the top of the list. Pitt took another step today at addressing that concern.

Baltimore (Md.) Gilman School three-star outside linebacker Devon Porchia has made his decision according to Scout.com Field Reporter Kristen Kenney who received a call from Gilman assistant coach Hank Russell.

"I just wanted to let you know that Devon Porchia has committed to Pittsburgh," Russell said. "We're all very excited for him."

Porchia was down to Wake Forest and Pittsburgh, before choosing the Panthers.

"I really like Pittsburgh, because it reminds me of home," Porchia said in an earlier interview. "Pittsburgh reminds me a lot of Baltimore."

Kenney spoke with Porchia moments ago.

"I am very excited I called Coach (Tony) Dews to let him know," Porchia said. "Wake Forest is a very good school and it was a hard decision. Pitt happened to be the school where I felt the most comfortable with.

"I visited Wake Forest on Monday, but it came down to comfort," Porchia continued. "Pitt is the place where I know I'll be comfortable at for four years, but it was a very hard choice."

Kristen Kenney contributed to this report and she will have more on this breaking story.
