One of the top 2013 TE prospects in the Midwest, Nathan Marcus, is ready to make the most of the upcoming season – and get a few things out of it himself.
"I feel like I am close to an offer with some schools," Marcus said. "I just need to have a good season and put on some more weight."
Although it is very early in the process -- the Glenbard West HS standout has had contact with several staffs via camps.
"Michigan State and Vanderbilt," Marcus said. "I went to both of their camps this off-season."
And although Marcus feels it's too early to play favorites, both schools are looking at the talented 2013 prospect as a TE. And that's not all you can expect from him during his junior season.
"Look for plenty of receiving and lots of big plays," Marcus said. "I'll be bouncing between tight end and receiver."
The big 6-foot-5, 210 pound athlete doesn't seem to care which position he plays -- as long as he is on the field.
"To be honest I am not sure which one I like better," Marcus said. "I'm perfectly fine at whatever position my coaches need me to play"
He continued, "I guess if I had to choose I would chose Tight End."
Football, is a game that Marcus has had a passion in for quite some time.
"Just growing up and watching the game," Marcus said. "And falling in love with it."
Who was he watching?
"The Chicago Bears and the University of Illinois," the Chicago native said.
Marcus also excels as a power forward and center on the basketball court – but there is no doubt for him that football is where his future is.
"I knew I wanted to play in college last year," Marcus said. "When I was up on varsity and I felt like I had a chance to make it to the next level."
