Nyck Young talks decision

Nyck Young, wide receiver from Homewood, Ala., decided it was time to end his recruitment. Young decided to commit to an in-state program Tuesday morning.

"I just committed to UAB," said Nyck Young. "I committed about 10 minutes ago. I was ready to commit. That was the main school who was talking to me. They wanted me, and I wanted to be there. It's a great feeling.

"I talked to coach Bowens, the receivers coach. He said they had just gotten out of practice. He said he was real fired up. I made his day great."

Young talked about his reasons for committing to the Blazers.

"First it's close to home," he said. "It's Conference USA. We will play against good competition every weekend. They are talking about building a stadium. They have a lot of momentum. They throw the ball a lot in the offense."

The Homewood star is happy to make a decision before the season.

"It's amazing to have my decision out of the way," said Young. "I can just play football now. My family liked my decision. They said it's a perfect fit. It's close to home. My family loves the coaching staff. We all felt like it was a good fit."
