Scouting Report: Whitehead shows speed

Decatur, Ga. – M.L.K. defeated Cedar Grove 21-20 in this scrimmage and Kenderious Whitehead was a big part of that victory. Find out how the top prospects performed here.

There were some top 2012, 2013, and 2014 prospects in this game including one of the best in Georgia who is committed to Alabama.

  • Jarnor Jones - 6-0/175 – Defensive Back - 2012 – M.L.K.
Quick Hitter: Jones is a good athlete that could play corner or safety on the next level. He currently has an offer from Middle Tennessee with others showing interest. He looked more like a free safety in this game. He moved well in space and looked athletic.

  • Joshua Outlaw - 6-4/265 – Offensive Tackle - 2013 – M.L.K.
Quick Hitter: Outlaw had a solid performance in this scrimmage. He plays tackle for M.L.K., but he may slide inside to guard on the next level. He has a good frame and he showed good strength, but he needs to continue to work on his footwork.

  • DeMarquis Polite - 6-0/180 – Wide Receiver - 2013 – M.L.K.
Quick Hitter: Polite is a very fluid athlete who played some receiver and defensive back in this game. He made a couple of nice catches and showed his speed getting up the field. He could be a potential corner prospect as well. He is one to watch in 2013.

  • Blake Tibbs - 6-1/170 – Wide Receiver - 2012 – M.L.K.
Quick Hitter: Tibbs is definitely the go-to guy at M.L.K. on the offensive side of the ball. He was thrown the short pass and he was running past defenders down the field as well. He really got good separation in this game and that is one thing coaches will be looking at as they evaluate him this season. He has close to 10 offers.

  • Kenderious Whitehead - 6-4/215 - Defensive End - 2012 – M.L.K.
Quick Hitter: Whitehead lined up at defensive end in this game and he showed great speed off the edge. I really like his range and he moved well in space. A lot of his plays were made chasing the ball down. He needs to work on his strength and ability to disengage. He currently has Georgia on top of his list.

  • Marlon Coley - 5-8/1650 – Running Back - 2012 – Cedar Grove
Quick Hitter: Coley is a back with quick feet and someone who can slip through tight creases to get yards. He did a nice job when given space to work in against M.L.K. He is not an every down back, but more of a change of pace back with good speed.

  • Brandon Greene - 6-5/290 – Offensive Tackle - 2012 – Cedar Grove
Quick Hitter: Greene is committed to Alabama and he showed why the Tide pursued him in this game. He still has to work on his overall technique, but he has very good feet, he is very athletic, and he really did a nice job against quick ends in this game. His best football is ahead of him and he showed why he is considered one of the best in this game.

  • Johnathon McCrary - 6-3/180 - Quarterback - 2013 – Cedar Grove
Quick Hitter: McCrary already claims close to 20 scholarship offers and he is only a junior. He is a very smart quarterback. He goes to the line of scrimmage with a plan, he examines the coverages, and he is good at making quick decisions. He was hot and cold in this game and just needs to throw with more consistency.

  • Deion Sellers - 5-8/175 - Running Back - 2014 – Cedar Grove
Quick Hitter: Sellers is being compared to former Cedar Grove athlete Xavier Avery. Avery signed a football scholarship with Georgia, but he is now playing in the Baltimore Orioles farm system after being drafted in the second round. As a freshman, Sellers hit over .500 and he is a legit football prospect as well. He is lightening quick, very shifty, and a sophomore to watch.
