2013: Gardner Receives First Offer

Lawrence Central (Ind.) OT Tim Gardner has a Big Ten offer as his first one.

Lawrence Central has been a great producer of talent the last few years, and head coach Jason West says he has plenty more coming up in future years.

One of his top rising juniors, offensive tackle Tim Gardner, a massive 6'5, 315-lb prospect was offered by Purdue this week, his first one and likely not his last.

"Well, mostly, I was kind of surprised that my first offer was from that kind of big school," he said. "It makes me want to try to work even harder to be that player. It's a great achievement."

Gardner has not been to Purdue, and has not spoken to the coaches, but said, "Over the winter, one of the coaches from Purdue that recruits came by, but he didn't really say anything."

It is early in his recruitment, but Gardner is also hearing from Cincinnati, Indiana and Toledo. He believes this season, he will be even better, and the improvement, and the versatility he will show will help his recruitment.

"This year, they are having me on the D-Line and I think I can excel in that and it will make me a better football player on both sides of the ball and I'll have more to show to colleges."

Lawrence Central opens their season tomorrow against Lawrence North.
