Scout Houston: Early Look at 2014

Lots of talent this season is in the Houston area. And many of the top guys are underclassmen. Here is a look at a few of the top players from the class of 2014.

Offense
QB Zach Cripps, Clear Springs
Slated to be the next big prospect to come out of the talent-rich Springs program.

QB Darrell Colbert Jr., Lamar
This youngster turned plenty heads at the state 7-on-7 tournament. He had good throws, but most of all showed poise and leadership. We'll see if that carries over.

RB Lorenzo Stewart, Klein Oak
Was great out of the backfield for the Panthers as a freshman. Look for him to be a solid weapon once again in 2011.

RB Donald Catalon, Eisenhower
Coach Dre Thompson is high on this young man who is only one of two players (other Craig Loston) in Eisenhower history to play varsity as a freshman after being featured in five games. He is now 6-foot-1 and weighs 205 pounds.

TE Koda Martin, Manvel
Here is a multi-talented player whose future could be on either side of the ball. Look forward to seeing him in action as a playmaker for Manvel.

OL Blake Blackmar, Clear Lake
Already 6-foot5, 290 pounds. Blackmar looked impressive in the combine setting, showing awesome feet in pass pro. He is primed and ready for Division I play.

Defense
DB Jordan Thomas, Klein Collins
Keep an eye on this kid. He's money in pass coverage.

LB Jake Blomstrom, Katy
Found this young man while out at the Tiger spring game. Heading into his sophomore year he is already 6-foot-3, 220 pounds. Oh yeah, and he will hit you.

Javon Shelley, Klein Oak
Another player found at the spring game. You can tell this big boy is raw, but his ceiling is high. Nice off the edge.
