Westbrook Working Way Back

Compton (Calif.) Dominguez offensive lineman Lacy Westbrook (6-5, 300) said he's close to returning to the practice field, a welcome sight for the Dons who have a loaded team but would welcome back the anchor of their offensive line.

"I'm recovering fast," said Westbrook, who had offseason foot surgery. "I have a couple of weeks and I should be back to practice. I should be playing by game three. If it feels better before then, I'll play but realistically, I'll be back for sure by game three."

In the meantime, the four-star prospect is thinking about which schools he'll be taking official visits to.

"I am going to start really soon, setting those visits up," said Westbrook. "I'm still figuring out who all I should visit. You only get five so I want the five visits to be my top schools. I want it to count."

Westbrook said that Auburn, Washington and Oregon are likely visits, while UCLA and USC, which are in his backyard, may get visits.

"I'm still debating on UCLA and USC," said Westbrook. "I'm pretty sure I will take an official visit to UCLA."

Westbrook was at UCLA on Saturday for the Bruins' Fall Scrimmage with several Dominguez teammates.

"It was really cool there, getting a chance to see their offensive line in action," said Westbrook. "Especially getting to see some of the plays and formations they run out of the Pistol. It was overall a great experience."

Following the scrimmage, Westbrook got to talk with some of the UCLA coaches.

"I met with almost all the coaches and the head coach, Coach (Rick) Neuheisel and Coach (Bob) Palcic," said Westbrook. "They're really cool people and great coaches."

Westbrook said he hoped to know his visits by the time the season starts, but his main focus is on getting healthy and returning to the Dons in time for league play.
