Wilson Has Big First Game

Redford Thurston (MI) wide receiver Eric Wilson talks about his performance and recruitment.

Four receptions, three for touchdowns, and some dazzling open field heroics highlighted Eric Wilson's opening game for Redford Thurston.

The 6'2, 205-lb wide receiver and linebacker was a man amongst boys against Dearborn Edsel Ford, also recording a sack and forced fumble.

"It felt great," he said. "It's always good to have a nice, good win to start season. It didn't happen last season and it put us down, but it's good to have it this year."

Wilson says he feels the need to be more of a leader on a young team.

"I do have to step it up and show the young guys what they need to do."

Wilson currently holds four scholarship offers: Northwestern, West Virginia, Toledo and Central Michigan. He says he has not set a decision date and has not thought about recruiting much.

"I don't know right now," he admitted. "I need to focus on our team right now, but I do also need to think about college and what I'm doing after."

No visits have been set yet for the fall, but he says he hopes to do that soon.

He says everyone who has offered is still in consideration. His latest offer, Northwestern, was a school he had a chance to see when he camped over the summer.

"I like their coaches a lot. The campus is really nice. They have their own beach, that was pretty cool."
