The Will Muschamp era is set to begin Saturday night in the Swamp vs. Florida Atlantic. In addition to the head coaching debut the Gators will have new offensive coordinator Charlie Weis calling the plays. Here is a look at some of the prospects that are scheduled to attend as the Gators establish a new identity.
With numerous top prospects scheduled to attend this weekend will the Gators get good news this weekend?
The Gators are set to host one official visitor this weekend with offensive linemen Adam Bisnowaty. Bisnowaty visited Gainesville during Friday Night Lights weekend and was so impressed he will make the return trip with his mother. They will arrive on Saturday and leave out Sunday evening. Many people view this as a two team race with Florida and Pittsburgh. Bisnowaty checks in at 6'6 and 275-pounds from Pittsburgh (PA) Fox Chapel High School. This trip will determine if he joins the Gator nation. He is most looking forward to the game day atmosphere and his mother's reaction.
The current crop of committed Gators has done a fantastic job of recruiting other players. Everywhere you turn its Matt Jones on Nelson Agholor or Rhaheim Ledbetter and D. J. Humphries on Carlos Watkins and Jonathan Bullard. Marcus Maye and Latroy Pittman have done a tremendous job as well selling the program and university. In years past we have seen one or two guys like Trey Burton/Ronald Powell carrying the workload recruiting other players but this group is all on the same page when it comes to recruiting the best players they can find.
The 2012 recruiting class will be well represented with Gators this weekend including Omari Phillips, Quinteze Williams, Brian Poole, Latroy Pittman, Austin Hardin, Marcus Maye and Jeremi Powell.
A few of the 2012 recruiting class that are not scheduled to attend this weekend are Rhaheim Ledbetter, D J Humphries, Mike Davis, Jafar Mann, Lorenzo Phillips and Colin Thompson.
Some players that are considering visiting this weekend are standout 2013 players such as wide receiver Ahmad Fulwood from Jacksonville (FL) Bishop Kenny High School, running back Greg Bryant from Delray Beach (FL) American Heritage, defensive back Nick Washington from Jacksonville (FL) Trinity Christian Academy, defensive back Leon McQuay from Seffner (FL) Armwood High School and wide receiver Richard Benjamin from Tampa (FL) Middleton High School.
These are only but a few prospects that are attending or considering visiting Florida this weekend as the Gators are set for the home opener. I would expect in upwards of 100 players to attend this weekend.
