Louisiana 4A Top 10 Rankings - Week 2

Class 4A No. 2 Neville and junior QB John Diarse put their unblemished mark on the line this week against 2-0 Class 5A Ouachita. Read further to find out what's happening across the state in 4A.

    1. BREAUX BRIDGE (1) -- (2-0) -- Last week, the Tigers defeated 3A-ranked Notre Dame, 28-12. Breaux Bridge avenged last season's 17-0 setback at the hands of Notre Dame and, in the process, snapped the Pioneers' 40-game regular-season winning streak. The Tigers' trio of LSU commits - Travin Dural, Kavahra Holmes and Lamar Louis - all got into the scoring column. QB Randall Menard, however, is injured (hand) and will likely miss two to three weeks. This week: at 5A Comeaux (2-0)

    2. NEVILLE (2) -- (2-0) -- Last week, the Tigers defeated Woodlawn-Shreveport, 51-0. Senior inside linebacker Ricky Wyatt returned a pick for a score, and junior QB John Diarse ran for a 68-yard TD. Diarse totaled 93 rushing yards and two touchdowns on only three attempts. Jamond Collins added another TD run. This week: at 5A Ouachita (2-0)

    3. ARCHBISHOP SHAW (4) -- (1-0) -- Last week, the Eagles defeated 2A Fisher, 34-0. Sophomore QB Quentin Gibson was 9-of-10 for 154 yards with a touchdown. His older brother - senior defensive end Stephen Gibson - has offers from more than a dozen schools. 6-foot-5, 240-pound DE Ryan Brown is committed to Mississippi State. This week: at 5A Jesuit (2-0)

    4. ST. THOMAS MORE (5) -- (2-0) -- Last week, the Cougars defeated 5A Central-Baton Rouge, 24-0. STM hasn't allowed a point this year (won 44-0 over Sulphur in week one). Senior athlete Matt Flores caught six passes for 121 yards and a touchdown and added a 22-yard scoring jaunt in the fourth quarter. Junior QB Brandon Bergeron was 19-of-29, including a 50-yard strike to Flores. The Cougars' stingy defense yielded only 89 yards of total offense. This week: at 5A Westgate (0-2)

    5. LUTCHER (6) -- (1-1) -- Last week, the Bulldogs defeated McDonogh #35, 42-14. Three-star RB Daniel Taylor was a workhorse, carrying 25 times for 198 yards and a couple of TDs. Taylor has 379 yards on the year and is averaging 7.43 yards per carry. Ole Miss commit Jordan Batiste (three-star CB) had seven tackles (six solo). This week: 5A Hahnville (0-1)

    6. TEURLINGS CATHOLIC (10) -- (2-0) -- Last week, the Rebels defeated Alexandria Senior, 53-13. Senior WR Dylan Bossier got Teurlings on the scoreboard with an 81-yard run off a reverse. Senior QB Dshaie Landor found Bossier for a TD pass and the Rebels' defense intercepted three passes. This week: at 3A-ranked Notre Dame (1-1)

    7. EAST JEFFERSON (NR) -- (1-0) -- Last week, the Warriors defeated 3A Independence, 28-21. QB Eugene Wells plunged into the end zone twice on one-yard keepers, while RBs Ronald Green and Jerome Smith combined for 228 yards and two more scores, according to nola.com. DB Derrick Raymond (LSU commit) is an elite sprinter. This week: at 5A Ponchatoula (2-0)

    8. O.P. WALKER (3) -- (1-1) -- Last week, the Chargers lost to 5A Higgins, 42-32. Senior QB Devin Powell threw for 387 yards and five touchdowns (to five different receivers). WR Raymond Jackson (pictured below), who caught the first TD pass from Powell, incurred a shoulder injury and left the game. His status is unknown for the Chargers' next game, which isn't until week five vs. West St. John. LSU commit Dwayne Thomas (four-star DB) grabbed one of Powell's scoring strikes. This week: Open

    9. SOUTH TERREBONNE (NR) -- (2-0) -- Last week, the Gators defeated 5A-ranked Terrebonne, 44-21. Jaquis Flores (5-7, 150, Sr.) gained 148 yards on 11 carries, including a 91-yard run. Flores is averaging almost 15 yards a carry (23-341) on the year. Against Terrebonne, he also caught three passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. This week: 5A H.L. Bourgeois (2-0)

    10. ASSUMPTION (NR) -- (2-0) -- Last week, the Mustangs defeated 3A E.D. White, 24-7. QB Hunter Gauthreaux threw for 153 yards and the Assumption defense forced four turnovers. Chris Johnson and Charles Jefferson each ran for a TD, while Parker Naquin and Jeremiah Jarvis both caught TD passes, according to bayoupreps.com. This week: at 5A Thibodaux (0-2)
