Ferguson Satisfied

IrishEyes.com caught up with Notre Dame pledge Justin Ferguson to get the latest on his senior season, official visit plans and more.

It's been four months since Pembroke Pines (FL) Flanagan wide receiver Justin Ferguson gave Notre Dame his verbal commitment. Despite a rough start to the 2011 Irish season, Ferguson knows where his future should be.

"I'm pretty satisfied with the team as I know they are playing real hard," said Ferguson. "They've got to have a better game and I think playing Michigan State this weekend is going to have them come out with a win. Coach (Brian) Kelly is going to fix the small things and the mental mistakes and they could just as easy been 2-0. But they've got to fix the small things."

For those that question where Ferguson stands long-term with the Irish, he stresses his plans have not changed.

"I'm a solid commit to Notre Dame," said Ferguson. "I've been staying in contact with Deontay (Greenberry), Tee (Shepard), and David (Perkins) and I talk a lot. We talk all the time about getting up to Notre Dame as we cannot wait to get up there and perform, helping turn the program around."

As for how his senior season is going so far, Ferguson knows he's got to remain patient.

"We're 2-0 right now," said Ferguson. "I feel I'm doing pretty good, however, my numbers are not as good as they were last year, but I'm making more highlight plays this season.

"I don't feel like I'm getting locked down as we have a new quarterback we're breaking in this season. So it's just a matter of him getting the ball into my hands."

This weekend will find Ferguson and his teammates taking on a tough opponent.

"We've got a game with Lakeland this week," said Ferguson. "I'm looking for a win as we played a good game against them last year. We only had a two-year contract with them that finished out last year so we weren't suppose to play them this year. However, their coach called because we gave them a fight last year and he wanted to play us again."

When not playing football, how does Justin spend his time?

"I like to work out a lot if there is a main thing to talk about. I don't get too much spare time, but when I do, I just like to kick back and hang with my family."

Ferguson quickly offered his current choice of music in his mp3 player, .

"I'm listening to Meek Mill and Lil Wayne," he said. "

Ferguson decided upon official visit with the Irish back in the spring.

"I'm coming up for the USC game on October 22," said Ferguson. "I can't wait to go up there. I know talking with the players when I was up at Notre Dame for the spring game they all told me if I was coming for an official it needed to be for the USC game. So I'm taking my official then."
