Sunshine State Standouts

SunStateFootball attended three live games this week, here is a look at some of the top performers from this games.

Player of the Week

South Dade running back Torry Clayton. The 5'9, 195 pound senior ran for close to 200 yards Thursday night against Dr. Krop despite feeling a little under the weather. It was a classic Clayton performance earning quality yards each carry. Clayton had several runs in the 20+ area and was close to breaking two more for big gains. We liked his quickness, vision, and sturdy frame, this is a RB that will play at over 200 pounds down the road. Clayton has several BCS offers and is likely to take visits after the season.

Dirogene was clutch down the stretch
Geoff Vogt,

Offensive Player of the Week

Lely QB Karbel Dirogene. The 6'0, 187 pound sophomore was sensational for the Trojan's. Dirogene made two huge plays down the stretch to bring Lely back to defeat Cape Coral. The first was a 41 yard run where he made defenders miss left and right to tie the game with under two minutes to play. In the last minute he put the dagger in the Seahawk's with a 40 yard run up the middle. Dirogene had 12 carries for 170 yards and went 21-36 for 247 yards through the air(2 TDs, 2 INTs) While Dirogene made these plays at QB, it is likely that he will be recruited as a DB or WR. All the athletic tools to be a difference maker at either spot.

Defensive Player of the Week

Cape Coral CB Tyreece Jiles. The 6'0, 175 pound CB/WR was everywhere Friday night. The senior had two interceptions on defense and scored once as a WR. Both interceptions showed why he is one of the most coveted DBs in Florida. Jiles has really come on over the past year and a half to be one of Southwest Florida's top prospects. He also returned kicks, essentially never leaving the field. He has great length at CB. Jiles seems to be focused on Nebraska, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Clemson.
