Javiie Mitchell delays announcement

Javiie Mitchell, three-star linebacker from Leeds, Ala., was scheduled to announce his decision next month. He has decided to hold off until late November in order to take official visits. Andrew Bone has the latest with one of the state's top uncommitted prospects.

"I am not announcing my decision on October 1 anymore," said Javiie Mitchell. "That's only in a couple of weeks. I want to take my official visits before committing. I have rescheduled it for November 28.

"I haven't scheduled any of my visits yet. I know I want to mainly visit SEC schools, like Alabama and Tennessee. I am debating about a trip to Georgia."

The Bulldogs recently offered, and Mitchell has been hearing from them regularly in the past month.

"Ever since they offered they have been sending me a lot of mail," he said. "I am trying to stay in contact with their coaches. I just haven't decided if I will visit."

Mitchell plans to take an official visit to Alabama and will travel to Tuscaloosa this weekend.

"Alabama hasn't really been keeping in contact with me recently," he said. "I'll say it hasn't accelerated. It's been steady. The game this weekend should be good. It will be a real test for Alabama."

Mitchell has also been hearing from an ACC program, and a recent unofficial visit was impressive.

"The visit to Florida State went really good," he said. "I got to see Florida State for the first time. It was a big home game. I like the crowd and the atmosphere. It was crazy.

"I didn't get a chance to talk to any coaches. I thought the game was good though. Florida State had their opportunities to win. Florida State is just now starting to recruit me."

Mitchell is not reporting any favorites and says Auburn and Mississippi State continue to stay in contact more than other schools.
