Midwest Recruiting Notebook

The latest on the junior class in the Midwest and more.

  • Fort Wayne Bishop Luers (Ind.) linebacker Jaylon Smith reported to Scout earlier this week that Michigan State is the latest program to offer. He adds the Spartans to Notre Dame, Ohio State, Mississippi State, Indiana and Purdue on his offer list. The 6'3, 225-lb junior says he will visit Ohio State again this season along with Purdue and Notre Dame.

  • Michigan is the latest program to offer Joliet Catholic Academy (Ill.) running back Ty Isaac. He adds the Wolverines to Iowa, Notre Dame, Purdue, Arizona, Illinois, Northwestern and others. He visited Ann Arbor for the BBQ at the Big House. He just visited Illinois recently and plans a future visit to Notre Dame.

  • West Virginia will host two of the Midwest's top juniors this weekend when Canton (Mich.) offensive lineman Cameron Dillard and Toledo St. Johns safety Tony Harper head to Morgantown.

  • Michigan State takes on in-state foe Central Michigan this weekend and Manchester (Mich.) junior quarterback Nate Bossory and Canton (Mich.) junior offensive tackle Daniel DeRoso are two of the 2013 prospects who have told Scout they will be in attendance. DeRoso visited Ball State last weekend and Bossory says he has also been invited to Indiana, Ball State, Duke and Mississippi State for games.

  • Another junior to watch is Fowlerville (Mich.) defensive end Adam Coon. A 6'5, 230-lb champion wrestler, Michigan State and others have been in contact with him. Detroit Cass Tech defensive tackle Kenton Gibbs and Ann Arbor Skyline guard Dvon Ballard are two other in-state juniors who report interest from the Spartans.
