Jared Johnson Re-Opens Recruitment

South Grand Prairie (TX) QB Jared Johnson, ranked No. 31 in the nation at his position, is opening his recruitment back up after withdrawing his verbal pledge to Baylor. Read further for more details.

"I talked to the coaches yesterday and let them know I was decommitting," said Jared Johnson, the three-star QB prospect from South Grand Prairie High School. "It was really (mutual with) both sides. Their interest went down, which sparked me to decommit. They weren't showing me enough love and it wasn't fitting.

"I'm going to look at my options and go from there. Right now, I have no idea which schools I'm going to consider. I'm basically starting over with my recruitment. After I committed to Baylor, other schools backed off, so now I'll have to let the word get out. I don't have any schools off the top of my head that I'm particularly interested in."

South Grand Prairie is 2-3 and 1-1 in district. This week, Johnson will test the talented young secondary of Mansfield Timberview (3-2, 0-2)

"We should make the playoffs," said Johnson. "We're going to continue getting better. I had a pretty good game last time out, and I'm starting to settle into more of a routine. I've learned the offense to where I know exactly what I need to do."
