Scout.com has confirmed that Peoria (Az.) Centennial junior RB Jalen Ortiz has received his first scholarship offer.
Ortiz's father has confirmed that the University of Washington gave a verbal offer today.
Jalen comments on the offer, "It feels great to finally get my first offer, especially coming from a school like Washington. I was excited when Coach Taylor (Centennial head coach) told me that they offered. I have always liked Washington but getting an offer from them this early came as a surprise."
Ortiz (5-10 185) has rushed for 560 yards and 4 TDs thus far in 2011. He also has 7 catches for 204 yards and more 4 TDs for the Coyotes.
