Laster Enjoys Tennessee Visit

Tennesse hosted two of the top 2013 prospects in Ohio last weekend for their game against Georgia. De'Niro Laster and Ross Douglas traveled to Knoxville together to see the sights, and the former came away extremely impressed. Scout caught up to Laster to get his reaction.

Shaker Heights athlete De'Niro Laster is one of the top prospects in Ohio for the class of 2013, and the all-around athlete is having a fine junior season.

Laster, 6-foot-2, 200-pounds, is starring on both sides of the football, and he has lined up at linebacker, wide receiver and tight end this season.

He currently holds offers from Toledo, Temple and Bowling Green, and last weekend he visited Tennessee to see the Volunteers battle Georgia.

"I liked it down there a lot, and we got to tour everything," Laster stated. "We got to see everything, from the practice field to the facilities, and it was all really cool. Then we went to the game and I was impressed."

"The atmosphere and the crowd were unbelievable to me," he added. "It was the first college game I had ever seen, and it was amazing. I tried not to get too excited, but it sure was great."

Laster is hearing from several top BCS programs, and the Vols are certainly one of his favorites.

"Tennessee is really high on my list," he stressed. "I'm being recruited by Coach (Peter) Sirmon, and he wants me to call him this week. They are talking about offering and they are looking at what position I would play."

"I plan on visiting Michigan and Ohio State in the next few weeks," he continued. "I know what I'm looking for in a school, and that's a place I'm comfortable with. Distance won't matter, and I'm not looking to play early. I just want to be comfortable with the coaches and players."

The Volunteer staff is concentrating heavily in Ohio right now, with commitments from Corey Smith and Alden Hill, and offers out to other top prospects.

"I know Corey really well, and then if Ross (Douglas) would come here that could make a difference," he stated. "I also know DeAnthony Arnett. Tennessee has already offered Ross and Donovan Munger, and those are two of my best friends. I'd love to have that offer from them as well."
