Star '13 QB Favors Two

Archbishop Rummel is undefeated and the Raiders have an explosive offense directed by junior QB Damian Williams, who is already a three-year starter. Read further to find out which schools are recruiting Williams and which two stand out.

"I'm hearing from LSU, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Mississippi State, Alabama Auburn, Texas A&M and Tulane," said Damian Williams. "LSU and Pitt stand out the most. Last week, I went to an LSU game for the first time. I enjoyed it. It was different. All of the colleges are recruiting me as a quarterback. Coach (Michael) Norvell is recruiting me for Pitt. He's telling me to lead my team and keep my grades up."

Rummel, which narrowly missed making the Class 5A playoffs in 2010, is 5-0 with a colossal district game this week vs. West Jefferson (5-1). Williams is among the New Orleans metro area's leading rushers with 325 yards and six touchdowns. He's also among the top passers with 416 yards and eight TDs (with only two picks).

"It's going to be our offensive line versus West Jeff's defensive line," said Williams when asked to identify a key matchup. "My offensive line (Patrick Kliebert, Dylan Manale, Dominick Bilich, et al.) has made my job much easier. We have some designed runs for me, and I have really good receivers. The difference between this year and last year is that we're all playing together. We're a family. On offense, we're balanced with running and passing."

Williams prefers to talk about his teammates and not himself.

"I'm confident but humble," he quietly stated.

As a freshman, Williams helped the Raiders to the Class 5A state title game.
