Louisiana 2A Top 10 Rankings - Week 6

Loreauville lit up the scoreboard last week against West St. Mary, scoring 62 points en route to a fifth straight victory. Senior RB Nick Julien went for almost 300 yards rushing with four touchdowns. How many spots did the Tigers move up in our Class 2A rankings? Read further to find out.

1. JOHN CURTIS CHRISTIAN (1) -- (6-0) -- Last week, the Patriots defeated Carver, 60-20. Curtis trailed early before storming back for a decisive win. Junior Sherman Badie, the team's leading rusher this year, had a second consecutive monster game, running for 148 yards on five carries with three touchdowns. Junior RB Tevin Horton added two TD runs. Junior DL Cyle Cortez had two sacks. Senior TE Dillon Gordon is committed to LSU. This week: at Newman (3-3)

2. WINNFIELD (2) -- (6-0) -- Last week, the Tigers defeated Lakeview, 62-8. Alonzo Moore scored four touchdowns. Moore is visiting Mississippi State this week. He has offers from the Bulldogs, Nebraska, and several other programs. Travis Dorsey rambled for 86 yards and a score. Winnfield has limited four opponents to single-digits. This week: No. 8 Menard (6-0)

3. UNIVERSITY LAB (4) -- (6-0) -- Last week, the Cubs defeated then-No. 3 Episcopal, 21-17. Sophomore RB Nicholas Brossette reached the end zone on runs of 7, 6 and 3 yards, according to Scott Hotard of the (Baton Rouge) Advocate. This week: at Capitol (1-5)

4. CALVARY BAPTIST (5) -- (4-2) -- Last week, the Cavaliers defeated North Webster, 49-18. CBA has scored at least 43 points in each of the past four games. The Cavaliers' only losses were to Class 5A No. 1 Carencro and West Monroe. QB Nik McCarty has gotten progressively better each week. He threw for three touchdowns vs. North Webster. In the first three games of the season, McCarty was intercepted six times. Since then, he's only thrown one. This week: at Booker T. Washington (4-2)

5. LOREAUVILLE (8) -- (5-1) -- Last week, the Tigers defeated then-No. 6 West St. Mary, 61-12. Senior Nick Julien (pictured at bottom) dashed for 276 yards and four touchdowns in a district tilt that was expected to go down to the wire. Junior Jermaine Antoine tacked on 139 yards and two touchdowns. Loreauville, which has won five straight, hung 61 points on the scoreboard for the second week in a row. This week: Delcambre (3-3)

6. EPISCOPAL (3) -- (5-1) -- Last week, the Knights lost to Episcopal, 21-17. Vincent Dellocono delivered two TD passes, one to Brian Bridgewater and one to Jarrell Rogers. Bridgewater is a four-star basketball prospect. This week: Redemptorist (2-4)

7. CATHOLIC-NEW IBERIA (8) -- (5-1) -- Last week, the Panthers defeated Sojourner Truth Academy, 42-8. No other details were available. Catholic has won five in a row since a week one, one-point loss to Class 4A Teurlings Catholic. This week: Jeanerette (2-4)

8. HOLY SAVIOR MENARD (7) -- (6-0) -- Last week, the Eagles defeated Many, 27-23. Menard rolled up 335 yards rushing, according to the (Alexandria) Town Talk. The "usual suspects" - John Gutierrez, Mason Deville and Jacob Mathews - joined forces for over 300 yards on the ground. "Their skill players are excellent," said Many head coach Jess Curtis to Scout.com. "And their team plays so hard." This week: at No. 2 Winnfield (6-0)

9. EVANGEL CHRISTIAN (NR) -- (2-4) -- Last week, the Eagles defeated Booker T. Washington, 70-0. ECA's four setbacks were to large schools with a collective record of 24-2. This week: North Caddo (5-1)

10. RIVERSIDE ACADEMY (NR) -- (4-2) -- Last week, the Rebels defeated Cohen, 56-20. Riverside's only two losses were to John Curtis and Class 3A No. 3 Loranger. The Rebels own wins over 3A Brusly and 4A Salmen. This week: Miller-McCoy Academy (2-4)
