ScoutTV: Jameis Winston

Jameis Winston, five-star quarterback from Hueytown, Ala., had another terrific performance last week against John Carroll. Andrew Bone captured Winston in action.

Jameis Winston received his first scholarship offer when he was a sophomore and won the Elite 11 MVP this past summer.

The Florida State commitment is being pushed by a couple of other top players in the state, especially Auburn commitment T.J. Yeldon, for the Mr. Football award given annually to the top football player in Alabama.

Hueytown is the No. 1 ranked team in Class 5A. Winston is a large part of the success the program has enjoyed the past three years. They are the favorite to win the state title in 2011.

Winston had a great performance Thursday night against John Carroll completing 23-of-28 for 315-yards and four touchdown passes. He added a rushing touchdown. Winston could have enjoyed a perfect night if not for a couple of dropped passes.

The biggest difference with Winston this year is his leadership. He wasn't always a big talker on the field and led by example. He is now the vocal leader of the team.

Winston has a cannon and places the ball in perfect position for his receivers. He always keeps his feet moving in the pocket.

Winston also demonstrated his effort in downfield blocking. He took off on two separate wide receiver screen plays to help block for extra yardage.
