Geers Hearing from BCS Programs

Neuqua Valley (Ill.) class of 2013 OT Andrew Geers is a big 6'7 prospect to watch.

At 6'7, 275-lbs and a varsity wrestler, Neuqua Valley junior offensive tackle Andrew Geers has many of the qualities colleges look for, and while his recruitment is just beginning, there is a good chance things heat up soon.

"Yes, I've talked to a couple schools and gotten questionnaires," he said. "Northwestern sent me a questionnaire along with a couple other schools. I filled out a questionnaire for Illinois. I've gotten in Penn State, Wisconsin and Minnesota. I went to a Northern Illinois game so far."

The trip to DeKalb was Geers' first college trip and he says it was a nice taste of what's to come.

"I liked it. It was more of just a recruiting weekend for everybody there. I wasn't able to see any of their facilities. I talked to their head recruiting coach, Coach Nielsen. My teammate is going to NIU, Michael Ippolito, so they invited me out to the game."

Geers does not have any more trips planned, but says he would like to if possible. Currently, he starts at left tackle for his team, a spot he manned as a sophomore as well.
