Horton to see the Hawgs

Tevin Horton, the '13 RB from John Curtis Christian (River Ridge, La.), participated in the Arkansas Razorbacks' football camp over the summer and will return to Fayetteville early next month to watch the Hawgs in action.

"Coach J.T. Curtis is going for his 500th career win this week and we're feeling right about it," said Tevin Horton of the legendary John Curtis Head coach. "It's been hectic in a good way. People are making signs and tee-shirts; they're going all out. Things will really start popping off after the game. It's special, knowing you're part of the team that will help win his 500th game."

Horton is third on the team in rushing with 391 yards. He's averaging over 10 yards per carry and has scored five touchdowns for Curtis, which is a perfect 7-0 on the year. This Friday, the Patriots face J.S. Clark (0-8).

"Our coaches do a great job of calling the plays and making us better," said Horton, who makes up 1/3 of the Patriots "Big Three" stable of running backs along with classmate Sherman Badie and sophomore Raekwon James. "Our young quarterback, Abby Touzet, has stepped up (with original starter Patrick Morton sidelined by injury). We talk to him, call him down and help him keep the correct mind-set, and keep him confident."

Horton plans to be in attendance for Arkansas' homecoming tilt versus South Carolina on November 5th.

"I received game invites for Arkansas and their coaches want to see me again," said Horton. "I'm also interested in Mississippi State, Oregon and LSU. It would be a great achievement to get an LSU offer. That would make my mom proud, as she's an LSU graduate.

"I like LSU's tradition and how they're a positive influence on Louisiana. I respect how LSU strives for perfection. They're a great team that gets most of the best players from Louisiana."

Arkansas recently signed a John Curtis product: offensive lineman Luke Charpentier. LSU, by the same token, has a commitment from Horton's teammate, senior tight end Dillon Gordon.
