Kafovalu impressed by CU

Samson Kafovalu talks about his official visit to Colorado.

Samson Kafovalu is in no rush to make a college choice.

The three-star defensive end from California was quite impressed with his first stop on the recruiting trail, however.

Last weekend, Kafovalu was in Boulder to make an official visit to the University of Colorado.

"It was good. I had a good time," he said. "I love Colorado."

A 6-foot, 3.5-inch, 245-pounder from Arlington High School in Riverside, Kafovalu made CU his first official visit. He will visit Washington this weekend and hasn't made a decision on his other three visits.

"I love the school, I love the place," he said of CU. "I love the football players. It was a great place."

Kafovalu has received seven offers, including from his hometown school of UCLA. Asked if UCLA was his clear No. 1, Kafovalu said, "Right now, I don't know."

Kafovalu said he has developed good relationships with Colorado assistants Brian Cabral and Mike Tuiasosopo.

"They're definitely one of my top choices," he said of CU.

Some schools, including CU, have talked to him about playing defensive tackle. While he's currently playing out on the edge, he's not worried about moving inside.

"If I play, it's all good," he said. "If I have to play O-line for Colorado, I'll play O-line."

That decision is a ways off, though. Until then, Kafovalu plans to give several schools a fair look before making a decision on where he'll land in the fall of 2012.

"I want to be sure which school is right for me," he said.
