"I've been hearing from Oregon, UL (Lafayette), Ole Miss and Mississippi State a lot," said Deggs. "I talk to Coach (Jeff) Reinebold from SMU. I got one letter from USC, but they never sent anything else. Purdue is always sending me stuff, too.
"I hope that Oregon and Mississippi State offer. When I send out my highlight tape from my junior year, it will have more long runs. This has been my best season ever. I'm faster than last year and have more long runs than ever."
Through 10 games, Deggs have rushed for 856 yards on 76 carries, an average of 11.26 yards per carry. He's accounted for nine touchdowns on the ground with three more receiving and a kickoff return to paydirt, as well.
This week, No. 14 Plaquemine (6-4) hosts No. 19 Washington-Marion (7-3) in a first round Class 4A playoff contest.
"They're big and look good on film, especially No. 17 (junior QB/LB Melvin Jones)," said Deggs. We played Washington-Marion in the regular season last year and lost by six points. We're looking forward to playing them again.
"If we win, we get a rematch with (No. 3) Lutcher. We played Lutcher last week and we don't feel like they were supposed to beat us like that (Lutcher won, 34-8).
"I can't wait for the playoffs."
