Catching up with Alemany's Jerico Richardson

Jerico Richardson (Alemany HS) just finished his senior season of football and is already staying busy with the basketball team. Richardson committed to UCLA in September.

Jerico Richardson has had quite the senior year. Though he may have entered the season a bit under-the-radar, an offer from UCLA in September and solid showing on the field has garnered Richardson, who plays both wide receiver and safety, recent attention.

The Alemany Warriors went 8-3 this season, recently eliminated from the first round of the Pac-5 division playoffs in a 33-28 loss to St. John Bosco. Post-season, Richardson was named to the Serra League First-Team All-League Defense at DB.

Now that football is officially over, Richardson has turned his attention towards basketball, spending more time in the gym to continue to build his strength.

"I haven't taken any official visits or scheduled any," Richardson says, and it's looking as if January will be when that time comes, though he hasn't eliminated the possibility of visiting sometime in the next few weeks.

Also unsure is whether he will visit any schools outside of UCLA (schools such as Colorado, Utah, Washington State, and Hawaii, among others, have also shown interest).

Richardson's strength on the field lies in his extreme aggression and tackling ability, and he has continually been working to improve both his back-peddle and speed.
