Several Cowboys Commits In Playoff Action

With no Oklahoma State game this Thanksgiving weekend and all eyes on LSU, who beat Arkansas today, and Alabama, with the hope that Iron Bowl rival Auburn can upset them and help the Cowboys BCS National Championship hopes out; we can do a little high school playoff surfing.

Here is an overview of Oklahoma State commitments for the 2012 recruiting class and some of the prospects remaining on the Cowboys' board in their playoff action.

It starts tonight with a game you can watch on ESPN3.com as Oklahoma State quarterback commitment Wes Lunt has a chance to lead Rochester to a second straight Illinois Class 4A Championship. The 6-5, 210-pound Lunt will lead the Rockets against Richmond (Burton) this evening in a game played at Memorial Stadium on the University of Illinois campus. You know it has to burn the Illini to see Lunt back again and knowing that he is heading to Stillwater.

In another game tonight, Lunt's future target at Oklahoma State in Flowery Branch wide receiver C.J. Curry will lead his team against Tucker in a game at Adams Stadium in the Atlanta area. This is the quarterfinal round of the Georgia State high school playoffs. Curry is unbelievable to watch. The 6-1 1/2, 205-pounder is tremendously talented.

Tonight in Texas, Tyler John Tyler defensive lineman Eric Davis, who helped the Lions rebound from an 0-3 start to win nine straight will pass rush against the son of one of my best friends. Jon Burgin out of Dallas Hillcrest was the best man in my wedding. He and I played against each other in high school and his son, Brady, is the talented quarterback for Highland Park. Tyler John and Highland Park play tonight at Waco ISD Stadium.

Also, tonight at Mansfield's Newsom Stadium, a battle between standout offensive linemen, one a verbal commitment to Oklahoma State and the other a pledge to Texas Tech, but a prospect Oklahoma State still may try to steal. Greg Brantley (6-7, 310) of Carthage will take on Trey Keenan (6-6, 255) of Argyle. Those are two big blockers that I have seen in person at Oklahoma State camp and they are both very talented.

Not to forget about the Oklahomans involved in playoff action tonight as Broken Arrow and tight end Zac Veatch (6-4, 250), a Cowboy commitment, will battled Owasso in Muskogee in one Class 6A semifinal.

Running back prospect and the son of Oklahoma State Heisman Trophy winner Barry Sanders, Barry J. Sanders, will highlight the explosive Heritage Hall offense as the undefeated Chargers play at undefeated Seminole tonight.

Defensive back prospect Kevin Peterson and Wagoner will play Oklahoma City Bishop McGuinness tonight in Salpulpa.

Now on Saturday, here is a list of games in high school playoffs involving Oklahoma State commitments and prospects:

Receiver Blake Webb (5-11, 187), The Woodlands vs. Mesquite at Waco ISD Stadium

Athlete Bralon Addison (5-10, 187), Fort Bend Hightower vs. Cy-Fair at Tully Stadium in Houston

Running Back Trey Williams (5-9, 175), Spring Dekaney vs. Longview at Corsicana
