English has had a strong season this year, helping anchor one of Kentucky's most potent offenses. English has had interest from numerous schools, but his initial offer had eluded him for a while, until recently.
"Tyler just got his first offer from Western Kentucky," said Dan English, Tyler's father.
English has been hearing from a number of schools regularly. TCU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Navy, Western Michigan, Kent State and Middle Tennessee State. But Western has pulled the trigger first.
"Western Kentucky says they only have ten scholarships to give this year and Tyler is the top lineman on their list. They think he can come in and help next year. Needless to say, Tyler was excited," said the elder English.
Tyler English and Trinity will be in action again Saturday against Scott County for the state championship in the 6-A classification.
