Adams Entertains Future Coaches

Nelson Adams knew where he wanted to go to school before the recruiting process really got underway. An early offer from Mississippi State and a junior day visit had Adams feeling bullish about a future in Starkville. A few months later, Nelson joined the Bulldog commitment list. On the first day of the in person contact period, Adams got a visit from three Mississippi State coaches.

"Mississippi State came to see me on Sunday," said Nelson. "Coach Knox, Coach Smith and Coach Wilson all came.

"They told me about what all is going on up there at Mississippi State and about the game on Saturday.

"They talked with me about academics and things like that."

Adams enjoyed getting the chance to speak with his future position coach, Coach Chris Wilson.

"I like Coach Wilson a lot," said Nelson. "You can tell he knows what he is talking about.

"He talked to me about using my hands more and getting leverage on the offensive linemen.

"They are talking about me playing some at defensive end and some at defensive tackle. It just depends on how things go."

Nelson has been a frequent visitor to the Starkville campus over the course of the season, but he was unable to attend the Bulldogs' win over arch-rival Ole Miss.

"I watched the game on TV," said Adams of the Bulldog win. "I really thought they played pretty good.

"They ran the ball real good and the defense played great. I thought the dominated the game. It was pretty much what I expected."

Nelson knows that he will have more face to face contact with his future coaches over the course of the next few weeks and he will be back on campus after the turn of the year for his official visit.

"I am going to be visiting up there January 13th through the 15th," said Adams. "I am looking forward to that and getting to be around some of the guys I am going to be playing with up there."
