Lunt Calls Bedlam "Crazy"

A busy weekend for the Lunt family started with a trip down to Stillwater to catch the Bedlam football game and ended with the Lunts flying back home in time to catch the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday.

Of course, Rochester two-time State Championship quarterback Wes Lunt is committed to the Cowboys and set to be a future quarterback in Stillwater. The Lunts got a peek at that future on Saturday night.

"It was unbelievable," said the 6-5, 205-pound Lunt. "It was first game and all I can say is amazing. That is all I can think to say."

Lunt saw his future school knock off Oklahoma 44-10 and win the 2011 Big 12 Championship just a week after he and his Rochester Rockets won the Illinois Class 4A title for the second year in a row with a 42-39 win over Richmond.

"You have kind of heard that Big Ten games aren't as crazy as Big 12 games, and I know this was Bedlam and that is an extra factor, but it was more crazy than I thought it would be."

Lunt threw for 3,107 yards with 30 touchdowns and just four interceptions as a junior. This season after missing the first four games with an injury he came back and in 10 games threw for 3,650 yards and 30 touchdowns with just four interceptions.

You can tell he comes from a family that loves football.

"We went to Tulsa last night and stayed the night and then flew home today (Sunday) in time for the Chicago Bears game," explained Lunt.

Lunt also informed us that he is not playing basketball and he will be seeing Cowboys offensive coordinator Todd Monken soon.

"No sir, no basketball and yes, the coach is a little upset," said Lunt. "I took a week off and then I started lifting and throwing the football on Monday. Coach Monken is coming up to see me and catch up this week."

There is some talk of Lunt possibly enrolling at OSU early, but that has not been decided.
