RB Mike Davis Profile
The Tigers' offer was extended on Thursday morning from running backs coach Tony Elliott, who was at Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga.
"Coach Elliott came up to the school and let me know that I had an offer from Clemson," Davis told CUTigers.com on Thursday afternoon.
"I was expecting it because I talked to him on the phone and he told me he wanted to come down there. So I knew it was coming."
Davis, who's the younger brother of former Clemson running back James Davis, had been waiting for the offer for quite some time.
"It was one that, once I started out, I thought I was going to get one from them right away," the younger Davis said. "I guess I had to wait."
Along with Clemson, the former Florida commitment has received offers from Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida State and Georgia, among others.
"I'm not considering anyone because I don't know what my top five is. It's a list that I haven't narrowed down yet, so I don't know where I'm going," he said.
At the moment, there are no definitive dates for any trips.
"I'm taking visits, but I don't know when yet. I have to set them up," Davis said.
Two main factors will be under consideration as he moves through the process.
"Basically, I'm just looking for a place that I can call home, a place that I can feel good around the teammates," Davis said.
James' history with Clemson certainly helps the Tigers' standing.
"It helps, but it's not a big factor," Mike said. "At the end of the day, it's my decision where I go."
The No. 14 running back in the class of 2012 will announce his decision on signing day.
As a senior at Stephenson, he rushed for 1,928 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Davis' older brother, James, is the second-leading rusher in Clemson football history.
