Scout talked to a number of top prospects participating in the 2011 Shrine Bowl Tuesday and find out what they had to say here.
Justin Meredith: "It was really a long time coming for me. My switch to Tennessee from North Carolina had to do with the new coach and him being a spread guy. It also had to do with the way Tennessee continued to recruit me. I have a great relationship with UT coaches and I am looking forward to getting up there. I have already graduated high school and I will be at Tennessee in January."
Quinshad Davis: "I plan to have a list in two weeks. I may have a leader by then. Right now, I am still looking at my options and thinking about things. Tennessee just offered me, Wake Forest is coming after me hard, and Clemson and South Carolina are still calling."
Virgil Smalls: "My options are still open right now. I do not have a top school yet. I am hearing a lot from South Carolina and South Carolina State."
Jay Jay McCullough: "No, I am not 100 percent committed to Clemson, I am 110 percent committed to them. I really like the Clemson coaches and I like the offense they run. They want me to come in as a hybrid and they will use me at tight end, running back, and wide receiver. I am going to try my best to be like Sammy Watkins was as a freshman."
Dan Beilinson: "I am still 100 percent committed to Duke and nothing has changed. If I am good enough for the NFL after I get done there, then that is great, but if I am not, I will have a great education. I like the staff and I like what the school has to offer."
Keilin Rayner: "North Carolina is my top school right now. I want to get to know the new staff at UNC and see what they are like. Clemson, South Carolina, Duke, and East Carolina are some other schools I am looking at."
Carlos Watkins: "Man, I love Clemson. Me and Coach Brooks talk a lot and I really like what the team did this year. I am solid to Clemson and I am excited about the future there."
Todd Gurley: "I still have not decided if I am going to commit in the All-American game or not yet. If I am 100 percent ready, I think I will, but if I have any questions, then I will probably wait. Georgia, Clemson, North Carolina, and North Carolina State are the schools I am looking at now. All four schools are recruiting me very hard right now."
Jody Fuller: "I am still locked in on South Carolina right now. East Carolina has been coming at me hard and I may take some visits, but I have not decided yet. I like South Carolina's program, I like the opportunity I have there, and I am still solid to them."
Jonathan Bullard: "I am down to Clemson, Florida, and South Carolina. Those are my final three schools and I will be picking one next Wednesday. It is the last day of school before our Christmas break and I will be committing then. I am about 70 percent sure I know the school I will commit to. I am just going to talk things over with my family and make sure I pick the right one. I am not taking anymore official visits."
