UA Preview: Black Team Offense

ORLANDO, Fla – Herm Edwards may have a defensive mentality, but his Team Highlight offense is loaded with some of the most highly recruited offensive linemen in the country and they will be clearing the way for two five-star running backs. takes a look at the roster in this free preview.

Team Highlight will be led by Texas Longhorn commitment Connor Brewer, a four-star recruit. Brewer is the highest rated gunslinger on the team, but will get plenty of back-up from future ACC rivals Chad Kelly and Preston Dewey. Kelly will play under high-powered Chad Morris offense at Clemson, while Dewey will be leaving Austin, Texas to play his college ball for the Miami Hurricanes. It will be interesting to see who wins the starting job and if they help lead the team to a win, will they see a rankings bump?

Offensive Line

Avery Young, Chad Simmons
The offensive line may be the most important position on the field and that is where all of the uncommitted talent resides. Five-star offensive tackle Andrus Peat is one of the most highly recruited players in the country and is still considering many options like Nebraska, Stanford, Florida State, USC and Texas. Five-star offensive tackle Avery Young has a great wingspan and has racked up scholarship offers from all over, but has narrowed his focus to Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech. Joey O'Connor from Colo., was long committed to Penn State, but after Paterno was let go he opened things back up and is now considering playing for schools like Ohio State, Boise State, Iowa, Cal, TCU, Oregon and Minnesota. Michael Flint is still looking for a fit and even though he does not report offers from these schools he is still listing high interest in schools like Clemson, Georgia Tech, Oregon and Tennessee. The committed guys are all major players. Texas commit Curtis Riser is the number one offensive guard in the country and Missouri commit Evan Boehm is the nation's top-rated center prospect. Patrick Destefano will sign with Clemson and Kennedy Estelle will be a Longhorn.

Running Back

Mr. Excitement Johnathan Gray will lead the rushing attack. Gray is fresh off a season where he led his high school team to a state title and scored 70 touchdowns along the way. Those numbers are flat out sick and after he signs with the Longhorns in February he should get a chance to be an instant starter once he arrives on campus. He could also make the case for being rated as the overall number one back in the country. Right now he is second behind Keith Marshall, who is playing on the Blur Team. Fellow five-star back Duke Johnson will likely not Gray overshadow him at all. He also led his team to a State title and scored five touchdowns in that game himself, cementing his status as a five-star and putting his name in the discussion for being named as the overall top runner in the country himself. Speed is the name of Johnson's game. He is committed to play at Miami.

Wide Receiver/Tight End Top 100 wide receivers Cayleb Jones and Thomas Johnson will be playing for Texas, the school that leads the game in commitments with 10. That staggering number may have fans thinking about the days when the Army Bowl used to just be completely littered with Notre Dame commits. Jones is a big-bodied player who can make things happen over the top and Johnson is a multi-talented receiver who can do a little bit of everything. Oklahoma commit Sterling Shepard sometimes gets talked about less than his teammate Barry Sanders, but is one of the more athletic players you will watch. He will be a great weapon in the slot. There will be a number of athletes like Angelo Jean-Louis, Nelson Agholor and Davonte' Neal and Ricardo Louis who could end up playing receiver or in the defensive backfield. The Team Highlight coaches will also have the chance to utilize some weapons at the tight end position. USC Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick is an intimidating physical specimen that can make things happen deep down the field and Tennessee commit Justin Meredith has been described as player who catches and runs like a receiver.
